Hi there, friends! I haven't seen many Indian movies - but I heard this one is really good. So I've translated the dialogue colloquially for you. It turns out that their idioms are not all that different from ours, which is surprising! It's unfortunate that the subtitles were never translated though, but hopefully I'll be able to give you a sense of what the characters are saying. The movie also has the Tamil original subtitled. I hope you enjoy this! XOXO, Angela Lin 林心如 Anamika means "nameless" - so the lead character is literally unnamed Anamika. She doesn't have a surname because she's illegitimate, as it's implied. All the main characters here are male except for two: Anamika and Kaveri Rangaswamy, who plays Kaveri the dancer and artiste.MOVIE PREVIEW: Anamika is a drama film following a girl played by Navya Nair and 5 guys after they all first meet at a script reading session organized by one of them. Anamika is an actor in an upcoming movie, "Kanneer Kaathadi" (English: Water Cradle), whose lead actor turns out to be the girl he had most wanted to meet. He tries to get closer to her but is stymied by her father who wants him to marry his daughter. Unrequited love leads Anamika to take extreme action, something she was desperately trying not to do. This drama film is directed by Mani Ratnam and produced by Ratnam Films. The screenplay was written written by A. L. Vijayendra Prasad under the title "Virumaandi", which later became their next movie after "Kannethadi". The producer was G. Dhananjayan under Ratnam Films. The film's soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman who also did the background score and the songs were penned by Vairamuthu, while dialogues were penned by Vijayendra Prasad. It was released on 19 December 2004 to box office success in Chennai and Kerala cities, while it received mixed reviews everywhere else, especially in US where it failed at its opening at number 12 grossing only $200K. The film won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment in 2005. Anamika was widely appreciated for glamourizing pregnant women. The pregnancy is not restricted to physical symptoms but also is shown in emotional symptoms. The film was later dubbed into Telugu, with the same name, under the direction of Siva Reddy and produced by Janaki Balan under Sri Venkateswara Creations. The movie opened to positive reviews from critics, while some of them considered it more commercial than the original version due to absence of subtitles which removed most of its originality. cfa1e77820
